Egypt and Senegal hold talks to boost strategic partnership
Dakar – Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, met with Madame Yassine Fall, Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, during an official visit to Dakar, reaffirming the strong and historic ties between the two nations.
Dr. Abdel Aaty emphasized Egypt’s view of Senegal as a strategic partner in West Africa, expressing pride in the deeply rooted and continuously evolving relationship. The ministers discussed avenues to further expand cooperation across political, economic, and developmental fields, expressing hope for tangible outcomes from the upcoming session of the Egypt-Senegal Joint Committee, to be held in Dakar.
Accompanying Dr. Abdel Aaty was a large delegation of Egyptian business leaders and representatives from both public and private sectors.
The Egyptian companies, specializing in agriculture, industry, fertilizers, food products, construction, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, energy, and information technology, showcased opportunities for collaboration.
Dr. Abdel Aaty reiterated Egypt’s full readiness to support Senegal’s Vision 2050 by sharing expertise, building capacities, and expanding economic and investment partnerships. He also stressed the need to boost bilateral trade and applauded Senegal’s efforts to maximize local resources and promote domestic manufacturing.
The discussions also addressed current developments in the Sahel and wider West Africa. Dr. Abdel Aaty underscored the importance of joint coordination and collaboration to address the rising threats posed by terrorist groups in the region, noting the serious risks these groups present to regional stability.
Dr. Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to peace and security in Africa, highlighting the country’s active participation in numerous United Nations peacekeeping missions across the continent. He expressed Egypt’s willingness to deepen cooperation with Senegal in combatting terrorism and organized crime in West Africa and the Sahel through a comprehensive strategy that integrates military, security, and ideological measures while also supporting development efforts.
This high-level meeting marks another significant step in the flourishing partnership between Egypt and Senegal, aiming for a future of mutual growth, security, and prosperity.
