Egyptian and Slovak FMs discuss bilateral ties and Gaza
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a phone conversation on Wednesday with Juraj Blanár, Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. The call focused on ongoing consultations to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on shared regional and international issues.
During the discussion, Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the notable progress in Egypt-Slovakia relations in recent years, reflecting a shared political will to expand cooperation. He highlighted opportunities to build on the bilateral political consultations held in December 2024, emphasizing the need to intensify economic, trade, and investment ties, as well as foster partnerships between private sector institutions in both countries to advance mutual interests and development goals.
The ministers also addressed key regional concerns, particularly the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of sustaining the ceasefire, implementing the obligations of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza, and fully adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025). This includes expediting the deployment of the International Stabilization Force to monitor the ceasefire, protect civilians, and create a secure environment in the enclave.
Furthermore, the Egyptian minister underscored the necessity of ensuring unimpeded and sufficient humanitarian aid flows into Gaza, supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts to improve living conditions for Palestinians. He advocated for the return of the Palestinian Authority to assume its responsibilities in Gaza, within a comprehensive vision that preserves Palestinian territorial unity and advances a political process toward a just and lasting peace based on international references.
