Egyptian police detain 12-year-old caught driving truck
Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation and taken swift action following the circulation of a video on social media platforms depicting a 12-year-old child driving a heavy truck on a public road in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
The incident, which sparked widespread concern online, showed the young boy at the wheel along the Kafr El-Sheikh/Baltim road, raising serious safety concerns for both the child himself and other road users. Authorities acted promptly, tracing the vehicle, reported to have expired registration, and identifying both the minor, who was behind the wheel, and his father, the truck’s owner, both residents of Kafr El-Sheikh.
According to officials, both the child and his father have been taken into custody, and the vehicle has been impounded. Legal action is being pursued against both individuals to ensure road safety and reinforce the importance of responsible driving.
