Egypt’s Sisi to attend G7, set for talks with world leaders

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi will take part in the G7 summit to be held in the French city of Evian from June 15 to 17, 2026, under France’s presidency of the group, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement. The meetings will bring together leaders of the seven industrialised nations along with invited partner countries, including Egypt, as well as the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission and heads of several international and regional organisations.

The presidency’s spokesperson said the summit’s agenda will cover global economic growth, efforts to resolve international geopolitical crises and their impact on trade, energy and supply chains, in addition to accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions will also address international cooperation in digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

Presidential spokesman Mohammed al‑Shenawy noted that this will be Egypt’s second participation in a G7 summit, following its attendance in Biarritz in August 2019 when Egypt chaired the African Union.

Egypt’s participation reflects its “pivotal role in advancing development and stability efforts in the Middle East,” the spokesperson added. Al‑Sisi is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, including talks with US President Donald Trump.
