Uganda’s vice president visits Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum
Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo visited Egypt’s Grand Egyptian Museum during an official trip to the country, the Egyptian tourism and antiquities ministry said on Tuesday.
Alupo was accompanied by a delegation and Egypt’s ambassador to Uganda, Mohamed Farouk. She was received by Ahmed Ghoneim, chief executive of the museum authority, who discussed possible cooperation and the exchange of expertise in archaeology and museums.
The talks included the potential for Egyptian archaeologists to share their experience with Ugandan institutions, the ministry said.
Ghoneim also toured Alupo through the museum’s galleries, where she viewed highlights including the golden mask and throne of King Tutankhamun, a statue of Queen Hatshepsut and a statue of Ramses II.
Alupo praised the museum and its presentation of Egypt’s ancient cultural and artistic heritage, the statement said. She also signed the museum’s visitors’ book and received a commemorative gift.
