Egyptian MSMEDA explores cooperation with South Korea

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is seeking to expand its collaboration with international partners.

In a recent meeting, MSMEDA's CEO, Basel Rahmi, met with the South Korean Ambassador to Egypt, Kim Yong-hyon, to explore new avenues for cooperation.

Rahmi stated that the meeting, attended by senior officials from both sides, focused on strengthening the partnership to support and finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This aligns with Egypt's broader economic and social development goals.

Discussions covered potential cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, as well as an exchange of expertise in entrepreneurship, capacity building, and technology transfer. Rahmi emphasized the agency's keen interest in opening new opportunities for collaboration with South Korea, reflecting the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and contributing to Egypt's Vision 2030.

Ambassador Kim expressed a desire to enhance cooperation with MSMEDA, highlighting South Korea's successful experiences that could benefit Egypt's SME sector. He noted this would open the door for joint investment and trade opportunities.

Both parties also discussed potential collaboration between MSMEDA and its South Korean counterparts, focusing on financial services, technical and technological support, and industrial supply chains. The talks also touched on improving the efficiency of Egyptian SMEs through professional training, innovation, and formalizing the informal sector.

At the meeting's conclusion, the Korean ambassador invited MSMEDA to attend the Korea-Egypt Economic Partnership and Cooperation Conference on September 30. In return, Ambassador Kim was invited to the opening of the "Our Heritage" handicrafts exhibition on October 4.
