Egypt and Jordan strengthen cooperation in energy, natural Gas, mining

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawi, received Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, at the ministry headquarters today during the latter's official visit to Egypt. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, natural gas, petroleum, and mineral resources.

Minister Badawi praised the ongoing development of Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation, highlighting its reflection of the deep fraternal relations between the two countries. He pointed to the success of the interconnected natural gas pipeline system linking Egypt and Jordan, as well as the utilization of the "Energos Force" regasification vessel at Aqaba Port, which has played a key role in securing gas supplies for various sectors in both nations.

Badawi emphasized the effective role of Egyptian companies in implementing natural gas projects in Jordan, particularly the Jordanian-Egyptian Fajr Company for Natural Gas. He expressed Egypt's interest in expanding cooperation into the mining sector to boost investments and develop natural resources.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to form joint working teams from the Egyptian and Jordanian ministries to explore further collaboration in crude petroleum and mineral wealth, develop shared projects, and exchange technical and technological expertise. This aims to improve production efficiency, optimize the use of natural resources, enhance energy security, and serve the interests of both brotherly countries.

The meeting was attended by several high-level officials, including Engineer Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation; Engineer Mahmoud Abdel Hamid, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS); Geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority; Engineer Yasser Salah El-Din, Chairman of the Jordanian-Egyptian Fajr Company; Engineer Mohamed Marzouk, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO); and members of the accompanying Jordanian delegation.
