Egypt’s Foreign Ministry and Press Syndicate forge new partnerships to empower journalists
In a significant step to boost cooperation and enhance the flow of information, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with leaders from the country's Press Syndicate today, outlining new initiatives to support Egyptian journalists at home and abroad.
During their meeting, Dr. Abdelatty, Syndicate President Khaled El Balshy, and Mohamed El Sayed El Shazly, Chair of the Syndicate’s Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee, discussed ways to streamline official communication and media coverage on issues of international importance. As part of this effort, the Ministry has agreed to dedicate a special office to support consular and documentation needs for journalists, ensuring faster and more efficient services.
El Shazly said that an exciting outcome of the meeting was the joint plan to provide journalists with specialized training.
“In collaboration with the Institute of Diplomatic Studies and leading Egyptian peace and development organizations, journalists will soon have access to new workshops focused on foreign policy, diplomacy, and international affairs,” he said after the meeting.
The Press Syndicate also announced the launch of an annual Arab Forum at its headquarters and invited the ongoing support of the Foreign Ministry.
To further celebrate excellence in reporting, plans are underway for a new award—named after a distinguished Egyptian diplomat—to honor journalists for outstanding coverage of Arab and international affairs, according to El Shazly.
Dr. Abdelatty warmly welcomed these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of strong ties between the press and diplomatic institutions. He also encouraged continued cultural collaboration, including making available books and archival documents that reflect Egypt’s diplomatic legacy.
The meeting concluded with an invitation for Dr. Abdelatty to visit the Press Syndicate and engage directly with journalist members, promising a new era of open dialogue and mutual support as Egypt navigates complex regional and international challenges.
