The meeting also included Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie, and Maersk’s regional representative Hani El-Nadi.
President El-Sisi praised the strong strategic partnership between Egypt—through the Suez Canal Authority—and Maersk, especially their work together on studying green fuel production and supply for ships. He emphasized Egypt’s growing role as a regional hub for both container trade and green energy, and thanked Maersk for its investments and ongoing expansions at East Port Said Container Terminal.
Maersk Chairman Uggla thanked President El-Sisi for Egypt’s leadership in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, noting the positive impact this has on regional stability and shipping through the Red Sea. He reaffirmed Maersk’s strong commitment to the partnership with the Suez Canal, highlighting its efficiency and world-class services for global supply chains.
Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in areas like training, logistics, shipping, and green fuels. President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s dedication to supporting foreign investment and creating a welcoming environment for Maersk’s growing operations. Suez Canal Authority Chairman Rabie also expressed hope for more joint projects to further enhance Egypt’s role as a leader in maritime and logistics services.
Maersk’s Chairman voiced his company’s willingness to support Egypt’s efforts to rebuild Gaza, with the East Port Said terminal playing a key role in this initiative.
The meeting reaffirmed the deep ties and shared vision for innovation and sustainability between Egypt and Maersk as they work to shape the future of shipping in the region.
