British Council, Macmillan Education launch strategic partnership in Egypt
The British Council and Macmillan Education have launched Advancing Achievement in Egypt, a groundbreaking partnership aimed at enhancing English language education through world-class programs and trusted assessment solutions. The initiative, unveiled at the British Embassy in Cairo, marks the first Middle East and North Africa launch of this global collaboration, underscoring Egypt’s strategic role in UK-Egypt educational and cultural ties.
The launch event, attended by senior leaders, education stakeholders, and His Excellency Mark Bryson-Richardson, British Ambassador to Egypt, highlighted the program’s potential to transform English language learning. “Education is a cornerstone of the UK-Egypt relationship,” said Ambassador Bryson-Richardson. “The Advancing Achievementprogramme will empower learners with high-quality English education, fostering confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills to shape their futures.”
First announced globally in December 2023, Advancing Achievement combines the expertise of two global leaders with 270 years of collective experience in English language education. The partnership integrates Macmillan Education’s innovative learning programs with the British Council’s internationally recognized assessments, such as the Primary English Test, Secondary English Test, and Aptis. This end-to-end model provides learners with credible progress metrics, equips teachers with actionable insights, and reassures parents about their children’s educational journey.
Mark Howard, British Council Director Egypt, stated, “This partnership equips learners with English proficiency and the skills to become global citizens. Launching Advancing Achievement in Egypt reflects our commitment to supporting the education sector and creating opportunities for young people.”
Melanie Everett, Regional Director at Macmillan Education, added, “We are proud to partner with the British Council to deliver an inspiring approach to learning. Egypt’s role as the first MENA launch country is pivotal, and we are excited to support its students and teachers with solutions that build skills and confidence.”
The initiative aims to redefine educational success by fostering 21st-century skills, opening new pathways for Egyptian learners, and strengthening UK-Egypt educational ties. Both organizations are committed to expanding opportunities and advancing achievement across Egypt and beyond.
