Egypt and India strengthen partnership in healthcare innovation

The Chairman of Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, recently met with H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Cairo, to discuss expanding cooperation in universal health coverage, digital health, and clinical research.

During the meeting, Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the strong political relationship between both countries has fostered a supportive environment to collaborate across various healthcare fields. He highlighted Egypt’s strategic role as a gateway for Asian healthcare innovations into Africa.

Egypt aims to introduce advanced technologies, including robotic surgeries and smart primary care, in collaboration with leading Indian healthcare institutions such as Apollo Hospitals and Aster DM Healthcare. These partnerships are designed to transfer cutting-edge know-how and elevate the quality of care for Egyptian citizens.

Ambassador Reddy described Egypt as a vital regional hub for expanding health and medical technology across Africa and invited Egyptian officials to visit India and learn from its successful universal health coverage programs. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to building long-term partnerships, sharing best practices, and supporting the development of emerging health markets.

Both sides agreed on the tremendous potential for further collaboration, particularly in health innovation, and on the opportunities for Indian healthcare and technology companies in the dynamic Egyptian market.

The meeting also included senior representatives from both the Egyptian Health Authority and the Indian Embassy in Cairo.
