Pyramids Half Marathon returns December 2025
In anticipation of the next edition of the Pyramids Half Marathon, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, held an extensive meeting with the organizing committee from “TriFactory” to discuss logistical and organizational preparations for the race, set to take place in mid-December 2025.
The discussions come on the heels of the Pyramids running route being named one of the ‘world’s most spectacular running trails’ by National Geographic—an international honor that shines a spotlight on Egypt’s growing reputation as a top destination for global sporting events.
Minister Sobhy emphasized the significance of this recognition, describing it as a golden opportunity to promote Egypt both as a world-class sports and tourism hub. “This is yet another milestone that underscores Egypt’s leadership in hosting international sporting events, supported by our nation’s enduring safety, stability, and the trust of global organizations,” he said.
Underscoring the government’s commitment to excellence, Dr. Sobhy noted that this year’s race will celebrate Egypt’s profound heritage and mirror its elevated status on the world stage—especially after the international praise for the marathon course, which winds its way around the iconic Pyramids of Giza.
To ensure the event’s success, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is working in close cooperation with the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Interior, and Health, as well as the Egyptian Tourism Authority, providing all necessary support for a safe and inspiring event that reflects the best of Egyptian civilization.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of leveraging this global event to further promote Egypt’s unique blend of sports, history, and natural beauty. Special focus will be placed on digital campaigns, partnerships with local and international sponsors, and inclusivity to elevate the marathon's standing to that of the world’s leading races.
The Pyramids Half Marathon, held annually under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, famously combines the thrill of athletic achievement with the magic of ancient history—offering runners a unique journey through one of humanity’s most extraordinary landscapes.
