As part of ongoing efforts to highlight Egypt as a top global destination, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities recently hosted distinguished media delegations from both the United States and the United Kingdom for an immersive visit to Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh.

This initiative, led by the Egyptian Tourism Authority, is in line with the ministry’s strategic vision to diversify tourist markets and showcase Egypt’s rich tapestry of attractions and experiences.

The invited media representatives explored some of Egypt’s most iconic sites, including the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Giza Pyramids, Saqqara, Mit Rahina, Khan El Khalili, the historic Citadel of Salah El-Din, and Old Cairo’s religious complex. Their journey continued to Sharm El-Sheikh, where they visited Ras Mohamed Nature Reserve, Sharm El-Sheikh Museum, the Old Market, and the city’s cathedral.

In a concurrent development, Egypt has also welcomed the renowned Chinese television show “Divas Hit the Road.” The popular program is filming several episodes at major attractions across Cairo, Giza, and Luxor, highlighting Egypt’s history and natural beauty to millions in China.

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Sherif Fathy, expressed that such events are central to the ministry’s campaign to present Egypt as a diverse destination, filled with unique offerings for travelers from all backgrounds. “These familiarization visits offer media professionals firsthand experiences of what Egypt has to offer. We are delighted to share both our ancient wonders and contemporary treasures with the world,” he said.

Eng. Ahmed Youssef, Assistant Minister for Strategic Affairs and Acting CEO of the Tourism Authority, noted that the media visit marks a significant opportunity to strengthen Egypt’s positive image, especially in the UK and US — two primary target markets. “International media has a vital role in inspiring travelers and building enthusiasm for Egypt’s unique destinations,” he added.

Regarding the collaboration with the Chinese show, Youssef emphasized China’s growing importance as a tourism market, stating, “Welcoming a beloved show like ‘Divas Hit the Road,’ starring Chinese celebrities, will help attract more visitors from China. We are devoted to supporting international productions and making Egypt a cinematic and travel destination of choice.”
