Egypt celebrates Korean Culture Week 2025 with vibrant public response
CAIRO – The curtains came down on Korea Culture Week 2025 at Egypt’s National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat, marking another milestone in cultural exchange between Egypt and South Korea.
Held under the theme “Updating Traditions,” the week-long program was organized in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt. Visitors enjoyed a rich blend of Korean heritage and contemporary arts, underscoring the growing interest among Egyptians in Korean culture.
Dr. El-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the NMEC Authority, commented, “Hosting Korea Culture Week reflects our vision of intercultural dialogue and openness to global arts. Culture and the arts are powerful bridges, building communication and mutual understanding.”
Highlights included the dynamic opening concert by Korea’s Sangjaru band, which fused traditional Korean music with jazz, funk, and rock. Throughout the week, guests explored a hanbok (traditional Korean dress) exhibition, hands-on workshops on hanbok accessories and crafts, and an interactive display of traditional Korean musical instruments.
The festivities culminated with Egypt’s preliminary round for the K-Pop World Festival, organized in cooperation with several Korean ministries and broadcasters. Young Egyptians showcased their talents and passion for K-Pop, vying for a place in the festival finals to be held in Changwon, South Korea.
The event not only celebrated the vibrancy of Korean culture but also strengthened the bonds of friendship between the peoples of Egypt and South Korea, inviting more opportunities for cultural discovery.
