Egypt hosts top Indian wedding planners on promotional tour

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has hosted a delegation of 14 leading wedding planners from India on a promotional tour of several Egyptian destinations, the ministry said on Friday.

The visit, organized by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, included stops in Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Cairo, as part of efforts to promote Egypt as a destination for luxury wedding tourism.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to showcase the diversity of Egypt’s tourism offerings and strengthen the country’s position as a leading destination for high‑end events.

Fathy said the ministry is working to maximise the value of Egypt’s varied tourism products under the slogan “Egypt… unmatched diversity,” adding that developing existing offerings and creating new, blended tourism experiences is a key priority.

Hosting prominent planners from India, he added, reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s ability to attract this segment of the market, while also supporting the ministry’s plans to increase tourism revenues and diversify source markets.

Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, said the authority aims to turn Egypt’s tourism diversity into concrete economic opportunities. He stressed that Egypt offers not only destinations but a comprehensive system of services and logistics tailored to the needs of markets such as India.

The trip, he added, was designed to demonstrate Egypt’s capacity to host large‑scale weddings efficiently and to build long‑term partnerships that support the growth of this promising sector.

Suzan Mostafa, head of the authority’s central marketing department, said the program included a workshop with Egyptian tour operators and hotel representatives to discuss operational aspects ranging from visas and air connectivity to event management.

Nermine Hanafy, director of the authority’s tourism relations department, said the delegation visited hotels and resorts to review venues, ballrooms equipped with modern technology, open‑air spaces, and logistical capabilities for large weddings.

The planners were also introduced to activities that can be integrated into wedding programs, including safari excursions, marine sports, archaeological site visits and Nile cruises, as well as services offered by local décor, hospitality and entertainment companies.
