Senate Speaker lauds deep strategic ties with China

Farid Tuesday praised the depth of historic and strategic relations between
Egypt and China, stressing mutual respect and shared commitment to advancing
common interests for the benefit of the two countries' peoples.
During reception of a
high-level delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) led by head of
the International Department of the CPC Liu Haixing, the Senate speaker
welcomed the Chinese delegation, noting that the visit coincided with the 70th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two
countries, reflecting the strength of bilateral ties, MENA reported.
He affirmed the
Senate’s keenness on enhancing parliamentary cooperation with China, exchanging
expertise and coordinating on regional and international issues of mutual
concern, as well as strengthening coordination within regional and
international parliamentary forums.
The Senate speaker
also praised China’s supportive stance on Egypt’s stand regarding the Grand
Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), rejecting any unilateral measure related to
the dam's filling and operation and stressing that water security is an
existential issue for Egypt.
For his part, the
Chinese official expressed appreciation for the warm reception, affirming
China’s pride in its distinguished relations with Egypt and praising Egypt’s
regional role in promoting stability and supporting international peace and
security.
He also reiterated the
party's commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership with Egypt across
the various fields, commending Egypt’s development achievements.
