Egypt launches major sports season in New Alamein
New Alamein – Egypt has kicked off a vibrant new summer sports season in the heart of New Alamein City on the Mediterranean, marking a major step in the country’s efforts to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among its youth.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, attended the festive opening, which brought together over 1,000 participants of different ages. Many of the young attendees are part of Egypt’s National Fitness Project. The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing, Matrouh Governorate, Porto Sports Clubs, and the Egyptian Fitness Federation.
The launch event featured a variety of fitness and athletic activities designed to inspire both individuals and families to embrace an active lifestyle along Egypt’s scenic North Coast. Dr. Sobhi emphasized that this large-scale event is just the beginning of a summer full of sports competitions and community activities planned for the New Alamein area.
The season’s activities are a shining example of successful cooperation between government bodies and the private sector, with Porto Sports Clubs serving as a key partner. “This event demonstrates our commitment to expanding grassroots sports and spreading a culture of fitness across all Egyptian governorates,” Dr. Sobhi said.
The program is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and its partners to provide safe, welcoming spaces for sport, helping young people and families across Egypt lead healthier and more active lives.
This milestone reflects Egypt’s dedication to investing in its future generations—with sport and wellbeing at the heart of community life.
