Egypt establishes "New Egypt University" in 6th of October City
In an exciting development for higher education in Egypt, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has officially issued a presidential decree to establish a new private university, named “New Egypt University.” The institution will be located in the vibrant city of 6th of October, within Giza Governorate, an area known for its rapidly growing academic and industrial presence.
The university’s core mission is to advance education, research, and innovation rather than pursuing profit as a primary goal.
New Egypt University will initially include faculties of Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Administrative Sciences — all fields vital to the nation’s progress and to young people’s future careers.
In a forward-looking move, the university is also authorized to launch additional faculties, specialized higher institutes, and research centers, following the necessary legal procedures. This flexibility ensures the institution can adapt to the evolving needs of students and the broader society.
Financially, the university will operate with an independent budget, allowing it to reinvest surpluses into improving its educational services, supporting its foundation’s resilience, and rewarding founders as per mutually agreed terms.
A distinguished Board of Trustees will guide the university’s vision. The board members will come from among the founders and others, including the university president, prominent scientists and professors, experienced professionals, and respected public figures.
President El-Sisi’s decision, published in Egypt’s Official Gazette, is another important step towards advancing high-quality higher education and supporting the youth of Egypt and the region.
This news was reported by Egypt's leading news agencies and welcomed by educators and students alike, who look forward to the valuable opportunities this new university will provide.
