Egypt launches EGTAP: First national e-training platform for tourism and antiquities

Egypt has unveiled its first electronic training platform dedicated to the fields of tourism and antiquities, marking a major leap in digital transformation for one of the nation’s most vital industries. The new platform, EGTAP, was launched by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Sherif Fathi, in a live event attended by senior officials and sector experts.

Speaking at the launch event, Minister Fathi highlighted the platform as a milestone in Egypt’s national strategy to upskill the workforce, modernize public sector performance, and embrace cutting-edge digital technologies. “Developing our human resources is fundamental to improving the quality of services and enhancing Egypt’s global competitiveness as a top tourist destination,” he said.

Designed to serve employees, students, and researchers in both the public and private sectors, EGTAP offers a diverse range of accredited online training programs and workshops led by academic and industry professionals. The platform promises accessible, flexible learning experiences—enabling participants to study anytime and anywhere, and awarding official digital certificates to successful graduates.

EGTAP’s courses span core topics such as sustainable tourism, food safety, marketing, management, hospitality, and more. The platform is set to be continuously updated with innovative content to meet the expanding needs of Egypt’s tourism and antiquities sectors. Future plans include linking high-performing trainees to job opportunities in the private sector, which is expected to bolster the overall efficiency of Egypt’s labor market.

Minister Fathi also extended his gratitude to Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the technical team, and the executing company for their collaborative efforts in bringing the project to fruition.

The Minister praised recent strategic agreements between the Egyptian Hotels Association and leading international companies specializing in digital hospitality and hotel management training. The Ministry has committed financial, technical, and moral support to these initiatives, reinforcing its vision of international standards and global best practices.

Dr. Mohamed Shaban, Digital Services Advisor to the Minister, described the platform as a “pivotal step” in leveraging modern technology for sustainable sector growth. He emphasized that EGTAP is freely accessible, allowing users to register, create personal profiles, and immediately enroll in live and soon-to-be-released recorded training programs.

Dr. Soha Bahgat, Advisor for Training Affairs, explained that EGTAP addresses the sector’s changing needs and integrates both practical and theoretical knowledge, developed in partnership with the Egyptian Tourism Federation and specialized chambers.

Dr. Ahmed Rahima, Advisor for Human Resources Development, reiterated that the platform supports career progression, equal opportunities, and specialized training in areas from archaeology and museums to entrepreneurship and scientific research.

These efforts align with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the national roadmap to human development and sustainable economic growth through investment in education and ongoing training.

The launch included a live demonstration of the platform, including registration steps, key topics, and a showcase of the certified trainers, signaling Egypt’s ambition to make EGTAP a leading global training platform in the coming years.
