Alexandria beaches see huge summer crowds amid warm weather

The beautiful beaches of Alexandria, Egypt, are buzzing with activity as large numbers of residents and visitors flock to the coast to enjoy the summer sun and escape the heat.

Some beaches reached full capacity early in the morning, and overall occupancy rates were especially high, with the eastern sector seeing up to 90% occupancy, and several beaches reporting 100% capacity.

In response to the high demand, the local tourism and resorts authority has taken extra steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Public restrooms and changing areas remain free of charge and are being carefully maintained throughout the day.

Dedicated staff are keeping the beach areas clean and providing plenty of garbage bins to encourage all visitors to help protect Alexandria’s scenic coastline.

Safety is a top priority. Lifeguards and first aid personnel are on duty, and those renting water bikes must wear life jackets. The beaches display color-coded flags that indicate sea conditions:

- Green flag: the water is calm and safe for swimming.

- Yellow flag: increased caution is advised due to less stable sea conditions.

- Red flag: swimming is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.

Visitors are kindly reminded to follow the beach instructions, observe the flagged warnings, and listen to lifeguard guidance at all times. The authorities also ask guests not to tip staff for free services and to report any issues to on-site inspectors right away.
