Egypt condemns Israeli military operation in Gaza City
The Egyptian government has issued a strong condemnation of the latest Israeli military operation in Gaza City, calling the escalation a “grave violation” of international humanitarian law. In an official statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration described the Israeli action as a reckless policy that endangers the prospects for peace and threatens widespread instability across the region.
Egypt warned that the ongoing military campaign risks pushing the broader Middle East into a new “era of chaos,” and cautioned that such escalation could negatively impact the interests of all regional and international stakeholders.
The statement further criticized the international community, holding key stakeholders responsible for what it described as a severe deterioration in conditions on the ground and a failure to act in the face of what Egypt termed “crimes and acts of extermination.” The Ministry called for urgent respect for human rights and the rule of law.
Highlighting the devastating toll of the conflict, Egypt’s statement noted that the Israeli military campaign has killed approximately 65,000 Palestinians, injured hundreds of thousands more, and caused vast destruction to Gaza’s infrastructure since the beginning of the war.
Egypt reiterated its urgent appeal for concrete steps to end the war on Gaza and to save lives, especially as the Strip faces severe humanitarian catastrophe under ongoing siege, acute shortages of food and medical supplies, and mass displacement of its population.
Emphasizing its commitment to supporting Palestinians, Egypt denounced the collective punishment and suffering experienced by Gaza’s residents, and called on all parties to immediately pursue a path toward peace and security for the region.
