Egypt, American Jewish Committee discuss Gaza ceasefire, regional stability

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, welcomed Mr. Jason Isaacson, Director of Policy at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), for high-level talks aimed at strengthening cooperation and promoting peace in the region.

During their meeting, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the robust and strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, emphasizing the wide-ranging collaboration across political, economic, and military spheres. He noted that both countries are working closely to support security and stability throughout the Middle East.

The Egyptian minister also reviewed his country’s continued efforts to restore and maintain a ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure the sustainable entry of humanitarian aid to those in need. He shared Egypt’s readiness to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza once a ceasefire is achieved.

Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm opposition to the ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza and the West Bank, warning that such actions fuel hatred and threaten the security and stability of the entire region. He underscored the importance of achieving a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Mr. Isaacson commended Egypt’s tireless and constructive efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and praised the nation’s ongoing role as a pillar of support for peace and security in the Middle East.

The meeting reflects Egypt’s commitment to diplomatic engagement and international cooperation as it continues to play a pivotal role in regional peace initiatives.
