Egypt ensures full availability of essential goods for over six months
In light of ongoing regional events and their potential impact on global markets, Egypt’s Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Sherif Farouk has reassured the public that the situation regarding essential goods and food supplies in Egypt is stable and safe.
He announced that Egypt currently has an ample supply of all essential goods, enough to comfortably meet citizens’ needs for more than six months. The Ministry has taken proactive measures—working closely with relevant government agencies—to guarantee that key commodities remain available and at reasonable prices across the country.
The Minister emphasized that Egypt is well-prepared to handle any international or regional developments without disrupting the availability of goods or the stability of local markets.
To further protect consumers, the Ministry has increased market inspections to prevent monopolistic practices and unjustified price hikes, and has instructed supply directorates to intensify monitoring across all distribution outlets.
There is also ongoing coordination with the state-owned Food Industries Holding Company, as well as with the country-wide networks of consumer complexes and subsidized food outlets. This collaboration aims to ensure that high-quality goods continue to be delivered daily and in ample quantities in every governorate.
Minister Farouk reassured the public, highlighting that the Ministry operates with flexible, continually updated plans to respond efficiently to any emergencies. He urged citizens not to worry and not to pay attention to rumors: Egypt’s markets are well-supplied, and there is no cause for concern about shortages.
