Egypt partners with TripAdvisor to advance data-driven tourism marketing

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, launched today a high-level forum and workshop under the title “From Data to Destinations: Mastering the Digital Narrative,” held at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The event, organized in partnership with global travel platform TripAdvisor, aims to advance the use of data-driven strategies to shape the digital image of tourism destinations worldwide.

The opening session drew senior officials from the Ministry and Egyptian National Tourism Authority, executives from TripAdvisor, leaders from the Egyptian Tourism Federation, representatives from the private sector, and hospitality professionals. The event underscores Egypt’s commitment to global best practices in tourism marketing and its active engagement with digital innovation.

In his keynote address, Minister Fathy highlighted:

- The Ministry’s focus on sharing global tourism market insights and analytics with Egypt’s tourism sector, strengthening collaboration between public and private stakeholders, and keeping the nation aligned with the latest international trends.

- The strategic importance of maximizing Egypt’s unmatched diversity of tourism experiences—ranging from ancient cultural heritage to stunning beaches, desert adventures, and rich local traditions.

- The ongoing effort to develop innovative tourism products in collaboration with international and local partners, aiming to offer unique and authentic experiences.

- The Ministry's long-term strategy founded on sustainability and leveraging Egypt's genuine cultural identity, which continues to distinguish the country globally.

“Our vision centers on promoting the wide range of attractions Egypt offers, and on using data to understand and meet the diverse expectations of travelers. We want visitors to discover something new with every trip, ensuring every experience in Egypt is memorable and unique,” Minister Fathy said. He also noted that the Ministry’s latest promotional campaigns—run under the theme “Unmatched Diversity”—are already benefiting from insights provided by digital partners like TripAdvisor.

The forum’s sessions focused on enhancing Egypt’s tourism narrative in the digital age, exploring new ways to showcase authenticity, and practical methods for the sector to adapt to evolving global markets. The importance of Egyptian authenticity, especially the direct engagement with local culture and communities, was highlighted as a key differentiator for Egypt as a destination.

Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian National Tourism Authority, noted that the authority’s international partnerships—especially in digital marketing—are not only boosting Egypt’s visibility abroad but also building local capacity through specialized training programs and workshops. He reaffirmed that the private sector remains an essential partner in promoting Egypt and driving tourism growth.

The event forms part of a broader strategy by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in collaboration with TripAdvisor, to enhance Egypt’s global tourism brand. A major digital promotional campaign, launched in September 2025 and continuing through June 2026, targets nine key European markets, focusing on measuring traveler perceptions and increasing awareness of Egypt’s tourism offerings throughout the year.

By fostering collaboration and embracing innovation, Egyptian tourism officials expressed hope that these efforts will attract more visitors eager to explore the country’s unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
