Egypt showcases Damietta furniture in Cairo exhibition
The Egyptian Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDA) will launch the 24th edition of the “Made in Damietta” exhibition in Cairo on June 26, showcasing the region’s celebrated furniture craftsmanship to a broader audience.
Held in collaboration with the Damietta Governorate, the event will run at SMEDA’s Exhibition Hall in Nasr City (Gate 4) from June 26th to July 5th, opening daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“Made in Damietta” provides a platform for nearly 80 specialized furniture and interior décor producers from Damietta, a city internationally recognized for its high-quality, handcrafted furniture. The exhibition aims both to support local industry and to help these producers reach wider markets, including export opportunities.
Basil Rahmy, CEO of SMEDA, highlighted the agency’s commitment to sustaining this regular exhibition in Cairo, crediting Damietta as one of Egypt’s, and the world’s, most distinguished hubs for furniture manufacturing. He emphasized that the initiative is aligned with Egypt’s wider efforts to modernize the furniture sector in Damietta, preserve the region’s artisanal skills, and fulfill directives from Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to provide comprehensive financial, technical, and marketing support for local entrepreneurs.
Rahmy added that “Made in Damietta” is part of a series of SMEDA-organized fairs designed to help furniture makers reach new customers and maintain high production standards. Since its inception in 2016, the exhibition has enjoyed consistent success, offering Egyptian consumers – and now visitors from beyond – access to competitively priced, top-quality national products.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect an impressive array of classic and modern furniture, all crafted from premium natural woods and featuring elegant designs for bedrooms, dining rooms, children’s rooms, and living areas. Residents of Cairo, Giza, and neighboring governorates will have the opportunity to explore and purchase luxury Damietta furniture at competitive prices.
By bridging tradition with innovation, and highlighting the artistry of Damietta’s skilled craftsmen, this exhibition not only supports local industry but also positions Egypt’s furniture sector on the global stage.
