Egypt and Oman reinforce regional cooperation

Egypt and Oman have reaffirmed their strong partnership and mutual commitment to regional stability during high-level consultations in Cairo.

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with his Omani counterpart, H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, as part of ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.

Both foreign ministers discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across a range of fields, focusing in particular on opportunities for greater economic and investment collaboration to maximize shared benefits.

On the political front, the two ministers emphasized their united vision and ongoing collaboration to strengthen the foundations of peace and stability in the region. They underscored their joint commitment to upholding international law, promoting wisdom and justice, and preferring peaceful solutions that support the sovereignty and security of all nations.

Central to their talks was the reaffirmation of support for the rights of the Palestinian people — specifically, their right to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the borders of June 4, 1967. The ministers called for the immediate lifting of the blockade on Gaza and other occupied territories, stressing the urgent need for unimpeded humanitarian access and the reconstruction of affected areas.

Turning to Yemen, the ministers reiterated their backing for ongoing Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh, advocating for an inclusive political settlement that upholds Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security and prosperity.

The situation in Sudan also featured prominently in the discussions. Both sides highlighted the importance of supporting Sudanese national institutions, ceasing hostilities, protecting civilians, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid through international agencies. They expressed their support for efforts toward a consensual political solution that preserves the rights and aspirations of the Sudanese people and promotes peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries.

The meeting concluded with the Egyptian and Omani ministers expressing pride in the historic and fraternal relationship between their countries. They affirmed their determination to continue close coordination and constructive cooperation, in line with the visions of their nations’ leaderships and the hopes of their peoples, with the goal of fostering peace, security, and development throughout the region.
