Former Israeli premier calls for civil disobedience and new elections

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has called for widespread civil disobedience and a general strike, urging the current government to step down. According to Israel’s i24 news channel, Barak specifically called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign.

Barak encouraged Israelis to take to the streets throughout the week to push for governmental change. He criticized Netanyahu’s administration as irresponsible and accused it of prioritizing political survival over resolving the ongoing crisis, including issues surrounding the fate of hostages.

Barak expressed deep concern over Israel’s current situation, stating that the country is experiencing instability and is trapped in a war of attrition in Gaza.
