Egypt, China deepen industrial and transport cooperation
During a recent visit to China marking the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance victory, Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport, General Engineer Kamel El Wazir, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, met with Chinese Vice Premier Jiang Guo Qing. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of transport and industry.
Both sides highlighted the deep-rooted and strategic partnership between Egypt and China, which is set to celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations next year. Minister El Wazir emphasized Egypt's keen interest in increasing the number of Chinese factories operating in the country and advancing major joint projects, especially in emerging sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy.
Chinese Vice Premier Jiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting industrial development in Egypt, including expanding industrial zones and supporting green industries like electric vehicles. He also emphasized the importance of Egypt’s strategic location, particularly its role in global trade through the Suez Canal, and noted the country’s favorable investment climate.
The meeting was attended by China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong, Egypt's Ambassador to China Khaled Nazmy, and other senior officials. The two sides reviewed successful Chinese business operations in Egypt and discussed ways to enhance cooperation within frameworks such as the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS.
This visit underscores both countries’ dedication to deepening economic cooperation and developing new opportunities in industry and transport.
