Chinese and Egyptian FMs urge de-escalation in Middle East during phone call
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone conversation on Wednesday to address the growing tensions in the Middle East.
During the call, Wang Yi, who also serves as a leading member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, strongly criticized Israel’s actions, stating that its disregard for international law and norms has sharply escalated regional tensions, according to a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Cairo.
He reiterated China’s call for all parties involved in the conflict, especially Israel, to implement an immediate ceasefire and work toward de-escalation.
Wang emphasized the need for the international community—particularly countries in the region—to unite in building consensus and to take more coordinated actions at this crucial moment.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also expressed China’s readiness to cooperate closely with Egypt to enhance coordination and communication at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations.
Both countries, he said, are prepared to make concerted efforts to promote peace talks and support reconciliation in the troubled region.
The conversation highlights Beijing’s increasing diplomatic engagement in the Middle East and its commitment to supporting stability through collaboration with key regional players like Egypt.
