Vietnamese President visits Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza Pyramids
As part of his official visit to Egypt, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, along with his accompanying delegation, toured the Grand Egyptian Museum and the iconic Giza Pyramids on Monday.
Upon his arrival at the Grand Egyptian Museum, President Cuong and his delegation were welcomed by Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the museum.
Ghoneim guided the guests through key areas including the Grand Hall, the Grand Staircase, and the Main Galleries. The President learned about the rich history and unique artifacts housed at the museum, with special emphasis on the treasures of the boy-king Tutankhamun, which are set to be fully displayed during the museum’s official opening in November.
Expressing his admiration for the museum’s striking architecture and its impressive collection, President Cuong presented the museum with a bronze replica of the traditional Vietnamese “Ngoc Lu drum”, a highly significant cultural symbol in Vietnam. Ghoneim expressed his deep gratitude for the thoughtful and meaningful gift.
The Vietnamese delegation also visited the Giza Pyramids, beginning at the Great Pyramid of Khufu—the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Director General of the Giza Antiquities, Ashraf Mohi El-Din, gave the group an in-depth tour, explaining the sophisticated construction methods and artistic techniques used by the ancient Egyptians.
The visit continued to the Sphinx, where the guests learned about the statue’s rich history and significance, as well as the famed “Dream Stele.” The delegation took commemorative photos before heading to the panoramic viewpoint for a breathtaking view of the pyramids of Khafre, Menkaure, and the Queen’s Pyramids.
