EU ambassadors visit Egypt’s Al-Azhar mosque to promote interfaith dialogue
Cairo, Egypt – In a landmark gesture underscoring the importance of intercultural and interfaith dialogue, EU Ambassador to Egypt, Angelina Eichhorst, together with Ambassadors of EU Member States, paid a historic visit to the iconic Al-Azhar Mosque today.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Mohammad Al-Duweiny, Deputy Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, for a vibrant exchange focused on joint efforts to prevent extremism and foster the values of peace, tolerance, and humanity.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting interfaith dialogue and enhancing institutional cooperation between the European Union, its member states, and Al-Azhar.
The visit concluded with a guided tour highlighting the mosque’s illustrious history and its enduring significance as a center of learning and culture for over a millennium.
