Palestinian Ambassador praises Egypt's unwavering support for Palestinian rights

The Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt, Diab Allouh, has expressed heartfelt appreciation for Egypt’s strong and longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting the unwavering commitment of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Egyptian people in defending Palestinian rights.

Speaking at a gathering at the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, Ambassador Allouh described Egypt’s role as “historic and principled,” emphasizing that Cairo has consistently stood by the Palestinian people despite evolving regional and international complexities, never wavering or compromising on its positions. The ambassador stressed that Egypt’s leadership and citizens have made immense sacrifices for Palestine over the years, with the Egyptian armed forces paying a high price and fighting heroically alongside Palestinians, embodying a deep sense of shared destiny.

Ambassador Allouh praised President Sisi, noting, “He stands firm and resolute, despite all pressures and temptations, making it clear that Egypt rejects any forced displacement of Palestinians from their land and remains fully committed to protecting their legitimate national rights.”

These sentiments, the ambassador said, have been strongly appreciated by Palestinian leadership, including President Mahmoud Abbas, who expressed full confidence in Egypt’s wise leadership and valued its pivotal role.

The event in Cairo brought together notable Egyptian and Palestinian figures, including former Foreign Minister Mohamed El-Orabi, strategic studies center director Khaled Okasha, former Ambassador Ashraf Akel, parliamentarians, political leaders, and regional experts, who all voiced support for Gaza and Palestinian prisoners, and highlighted Egypt’s crucial stance against efforts to undermine Palestinian rights.

Ambassador Allouh also firmly rejected recent demonstrations in front of the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv, asserting that such actions do not reflect the wider Palestinian position, which holds Egypt’s role in the highest regard, seeing it as a steadfast ally in the pursuit of justice and peace.

He underlined the importance of Egypt’s continued leadership in national reconciliation efforts and praised both Cairo and Doha for their ongoing work to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and end the humanitarian crisis that has unfolded since October 7, 2023.

The ambassador offered special thanks to the Egyptian government for keeping the vital Rafah border crossing open for humanitarian aid and medical evacuations, describing Egypt as a lifeline for Gaza, always among the first to offer relief and assistance despite complex security challenges.

Ambassador Allouh concluded by paying tribute to the people, army, and leadership of Egypt, promising that Palestinians will always remember those who stood by them in their darkest hours, giving blood and support to keep the hope for a free, Arab Palestine alive.
