Egyptian and Palestinian FMs discuss regional escalation, Gaza crisis
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, held a phone conversation today with Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine.
The call focused on evaluating the ongoing situation in Gaza and the wider implications of the Israeli strikes on Iran for regional stability.
Dr. Abdel Aaty shared updates on Egypt’s ongoing efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to broker a renewed ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
He firmly reiterated Egypt's rejection of Israeli policies of collective punishment and starvation, emphasizing that such measures are clear violations of international humanitarian law.
The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of upholding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and condemned continued Israeli military operations and settler incursions in the West Bank. He reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for a political resolution that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and self-determination for the Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution.
Dr. Abdel Aaty also warned that continued military escalation in the Middle East, especially between Israel and Iran, poses grave risks to the region’s security and stability. He highlighted Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis and encourage de-escalation through political and diplomatic means.
