China’s President Xi Jinping met on Tuesday in Beijing with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El‑Anany, the Chinese Embassy in Egypt said.
Xi said China “actively supports” UNESCO’s work, adding that both sides have undertaken “many efforts to safeguard global peace and advance global development.”
The president expressed China’s readiness to deepen its strategic cooperation with UNESCO to better serve people in all countries. He also emphasized implementing China’s four global initiatives and enabling wider participation in progress in education, science and culture, in order to respond more effectively to common challenges and help build “a community with a shared future for mankind.”
