Egypt’s PM reassures public amid rising Israel-Iran tensions

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, on Wednesday led the government’s weekly meeting to discuss important national and regional matters.

At the start of the meeting, Dr. Madbouly talked about the increasing tensions and ongoing conflict in the Middle East in recent days. He emphasized Egypt’s strong position against the expansion of the conflict, especially the escalation of military operations in the region.

The Prime Minister warned that continued escalation would have serious consequences for all people in the region, and potentially the entire world.

Dr. Madbouly highlighted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent conversations with world leaders, where the President called for the international community to play a more active role in encouraging regional parties to act responsibly. President El-Sisi underlined that peaceful solutions are the only path to secure long-term stability and safety in the Middle East.

Regarding the possible impact of the conflict on Egypt, Dr. Madbouly reassured citizens that there is no need for worry, stating that all essential goods are available and the country has a strategic stockpile to cover several months. The government is closely monitoring the situation and has taken swift action to address any potential risks, especially relating to fuel supplies and stocks of basic goods.

To ensure readiness, the Prime Minister has established a crisis committeeunder his leadership to keep track of the military developments between Iran and Israel, and to prepare for any possible changes. This committee will meet regularly, with the first meeting scheduled right after the Cabinet session.

Dr. Madbouly also kindly asked citizens to be mindful of their electricity usage during this exceptional period, assuring everyone that the government is committed to providing enough fuel for power stations to operate efficiently.

He stressed that there is no reason for concern regarding the availability of essential goods, thanks to Egypt’s solid reserves and careful monitoring. He also expressed hopes for a swift return to stability across the region.
