Egypt and Bahrain sign eight agreements to bolster bilateral cooperation

In a significant step towards deepening ties, Egypt and the Kingdom of Bahrain have signed eight agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors. The signing took place during an official ceremony in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain.


The accords reflect a shared commitment to fostering stronger relations and promoting joint initiatives between the two countries. The documents signed cover key areas including trade, investment, tourism, culture, industry, and sustainable development.


Highlights from the agreements include:


- Industrial Collaboration: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Egyptalum and Aluminium Bahrain to assess the feasibility of constructing an alumina refinery in Egypt.

- Investment Enhancement: Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and Bahrain’s Economic Development Board agreed to boost investment relations.

- Trade and Exhibitions: An MoU was signed to enhance cooperation between Egypt’s General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences and the Bahrain International Exhibitions and Convention Centre.

- Customs Cooperation: A mutual recognition agreement for authorized economic operator programs was concluded, aimed at facilitating smoother customs procedures between both nations.

- Tourism: The ministries of tourism from both sides pledged to work together to promote joint tourism initiatives.

- Cultural Heritage: Authorities from Egypt and Bahrain will collaborate in the fields of antiquities and museums, supporting preservation and cultural exchange.

- Competition and Fair Markets: Regulatory bodies from both countries will cooperate to protect fair competition and prevent monopolistic practices.

- Sustainable Development: The two nations agreed to enhance technical cooperation and capacity building in sustainable development.


Leaders from both countries expressed optimism that these agreements mark a new era of collaboration, strengthening economic ties and cultural understanding, while creating new opportunities for their peoples.


The Egypt–Bahrain partnership continues to serve as a model for regional cooperation rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and a common vision for a prosperous future.
