Egypt voices solidarity with Qatar, urges regional de-escalation after attacks
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a series of phone calls with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and Jordan on Monday, amid fast-moving regional developments following recent Iranian attacks on Qatari territory.
According to an official statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Abdelatty discussed with his counterparts the latest escalation, including the violation of Qatari sovereignty. He affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar, strongly condemning any violation of its territorial integrity and security, and stressed Cairo’s consistent rejection of any action that undermines the stability and sovereignty of Arab states.
The ministers examined the repercussions of the attacks on Qatar and their wider implications for regional security and stability, emphasizing the increasing risks posed by further military escalation.
During their discussions, all parties underscored the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and exercise restraint. The ministers also stressed the collective responsibility of regional and international actors to contain the crisis and restore calm.
