France honors former Egyptian minister Khaled El-Enany, backs UNESCO chief bid
In a ceremony held this evening in Cairo, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, was awarded the prestigious Legion of Honour (Chevalier rank) by the French Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Eric Chevallier.
The honour recognizes Dr. El-Enany’s exceptional career and his outstanding contributions to the preservation of Egyptian heritage, scientific research, and the strengthening of Franco-Egyptian relations and international cultural cooperation.
A long-standing partner of France in the fields of archaeology, culture, and education, Dr. El-Enany is known for his deep appreciation of French culture and the French language.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Chevallier reiterated France’s full support for Dr. El-Enany’s candidacy for the post of Director-General of UNESCO. France remains committed to multilateral cooperation, with UNESCO serving as a key international organization working in education, science, culture, and communication.
